The Mission of First Methodist Church

Why does the church exist? According to Matthew’s Gospel, the risen Christ made it clear that we are to, “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you” (28:19-20).

When Methodist founder, John Wesley missionaries to the newly founded United States of America, his advise was “Offer them Christ”. Over two hundred years later, the people of First Methodist Church of Bolivar still believe in offering Christ.

As a part of the landscape of this community, we have a responsibility to build positive and fruitful relationships with those around us. We do this by seeking out the least, the last, and the lost, and by offering both help and hope. First Methodist Church is a welcoming congregation offering the love of Christ to everyone. We are here in your midst; “The Church in the Heart of Town, with the Town at Heart.”
